Malaysian Actress Emma Maembong Announces Divorce After Four Years of Marriage
Malaysian actress Emma Maembong has confirmed her divorce from her husband, Muhammad Shazli Azhar, after four years of marriage. In a statement released on October 7, Emma, whose real name is Fatimah Rohani Ismail, disclosed that she has completed her iddah period, a waiting period observed by Muslim women following a divorce.
Emma described the divorce as amicable and expressed her desire to no longer keep it a secret. She explained that her decision to continue posting photos with her ex-husband on Instagram was to protect their children's emotional well-being, ensuring they are not adversely affected by the separation. "I want my children to see that their family is still happy," the 32-year-old actress stated.
Despite the end of their marriage, Emma maintains a positive relationship with her former husband for the sake of their children. The star of "Kau Yang Terindah" expressed her intention to use this experience as an opportunity for personal growth and self-improvement. She acknowledged the challenges faced during the marriage and emphasized that their current focus is on raising their children. "Although we aren’t together anymore, we will still arrange family activities for our kids," she added.
Emma and Shazli were married on February 20, 2020, and have two children together: Shariq Gabriel, four, and Shakil Aryan Shah, one.
