Kate Winslet Honored with Golden Icon Award at Zurich Film Festival
British actress Kate Winslet was celebrated at the Zurich Film Festival (ZFF) as she presented her new film, Lee, and received the prestigious Golden Icon award for lifetime achievement. The Oscar-winning actress engaged warmly with the audience, taking selfies, signing autographs, and shaking hands, making her visit a memorable highlight of ZFF's 20-year history, as noted by Festival Artistic Director Christian Jungen.
Winslet's new film, Lee, is a biopic about American war photographer Lee Miller, who transitioned from a fashion model to documenting the liberation of the Buchenwald and Dachau concentration camps. Winslet, who both produced and starred in the film, dedicated around ten years to bringing this important story to the screen. The film holds personal significance for Miller’s son, Anthony Penrose, who attended the festival. Penrose only discovered his mother's wartime contributions after her death and had previously declined numerous film offers before collaborating with Winslet.
In addition to her cinematic achievements, Winslet made headlines by taking a dip in the chilly 15-degree Celsius waters of Lake Zurich, showcasing her adventurous spirit.
The festival also honored Pamela Anderson, adding to the celebration of iconic figures in the film industry.
