Is Blade coming back? Wesley Snipes reveals Marvel's vampire hunter may be returning to screens

It’s been over a decade since we saw Wesley Snipes on screen as vampire hunter Blade – but could he be about to bring the character back to screens?

Well, it’s just possible that we might be seeing the butt-kicking human-vampire hybrid again, with the actor – following previous reports of a fourth Blade movie – confirming at Comic-Con that he has met with Marvel about reprising the role.

Snipes – who is due to star in the new action thriller series The Player – which debuts on US TV in the autumn – revealed: ‘Blade 4 is controlled by Marvel and we did have a really productive and a wonderful meeting and we discussed a number of things.

‘I don’t know where it’s on their schedule at this point, that hasn’t been decided. I guess it’s still up in the air.’

But even if a new Blade movie isn’t forthcoming, Snipes didn’t rule out the possibility of the character bringing his vampire hunting skills to another Marvel project.

‘I’ve always been a fan of these pieces and adaptations and I’d be nice to be a part of the family again,’ he explained.

‘But if we don’t to a Blade 4 or something else with Marvel, we’ll do something else.’

Ooooooh, exciting!

The original Blade, which also starred Stephen Dorff and Kris Kristofferson, was released in 1998, and was Marvel’s first significant box-office hit.

Sequels Blade 2 and Blade: Trinity followed in 2002 and 2004, while a TV spin-off series was produced in 2006 but ran for just 13 episodes.
