Sweden’s First 10 Participants for Melodifestivalen 2025 Revealed

Fans of Sweden's Melodifestivalen are already buzzing with excitement following Aftonbladet's announcement of the first 10 artists expected to compete in the 2025 edition. Known for its highly accurate predictions, the Swedish newspaper has named four former winners and several other popular artists, promising a star-studded contest.

The official lineup will not be revealed until later this year, but these early reports have ignited anticipation for Sweden’s biggest music competition, which determines the country’s representative for Eurovision 2025.

Four Former Champions Returning

Among the biggest stories is the return of four past winners:

- Måns Zelmerlöw (2015 winner) – Best known for his Eurovision-winning hit “Heroes,” Måns is expected to make a comeback with a song he co-wrote alongside David Lindgren Zacharias, Sebastian Atas, and Ola Svensson. According to Aftonbladet, “It is crystal clear. He will be there, unless he decides to pull out.”

- Frans (2016 winner) – After stepping away from the spotlight to focus on his studies, Frans is now poised to return with another entry.

- John Lundvik (2019 winner) – This will mark Lundvik’s fifth entry at Melodifestivalen. His winning song, “Too Late for Love,” helped him become a fan favorite.

- Arvingarna (1993 winners) – The iconic Swedish band, best known for their hit “Eloise,” is rumored to compete for the seventh time in 2025.

Other Artists Joining the Contest

In addition to the former winners, several returning contestants and new faces are expected to compete:

- Klara Hammarström – After multiple attempts in 2020, 2021, and 2022, Hammarström is reportedly coming back with help from Cazzi Opeia, a songwriter known for penning Eurovision hits.

- Malou Prytz – At just 21 years old, Prytz is set to make her fourth appearance at Melodifestivalen. She first debuted in 2019 with “I Do Me.”

- Andreas Lundstedt – The former member of Alcazar is linked to his tenth Melodifestivalen entry (five solo attempts and five with the band).

- Scarlet – Returning with a powerful metal song, insiders claim their track could rival the likes of Måns and other heavyweights.

- Dolly Style – Known for their playful bubblegum pop and alter-egos Molly, Holly, Polly, and Yolly, the group is reportedly set to join the contest once again.

- Kaliffa – A rapper from Stockholm and member of Hoffmaestro, Kaliffa will compete with a track in a similar style to Medina’s “Que Sera,” which earned second place in the 2024 contest.

What’s Next?

Melodifestivalen 2025 will tour six cities across Sweden, culminating in a grand final where the winner will represent Sweden at the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 in Basel, Switzerland.

Sweden’s 2024 Eurovision representatives, Marcus & Martinus, achieved 9th place in the Grand Final with “Unforgettable.” Now, the competition is heating up as veterans and fresh talent alike prepare for their shot at Eurovision glory.

With Måns Zelmerlöw and other past champions returning, this year’s Melodifestivalen is shaping up to be one of the most exciting editions yet!
