Sweden expands its mpox vaccine recommendations
Sweden's Public Health Agency has expanded its recommendations for the mpox vaccine, now advising that certain groups should receive the vaccination if they plan to travel to areas where the virus is actively spreading.
The updated guidance specifically targets healthcare workers, aid sector workers, and other individuals who might be at higher risk due to their travel destinations.
State epidemiologist Magnus Gisslén clarified that while these recommendations are crucial for those at elevated risk, the majority of travelers do not require the mpox vaccine.
The update reflects a focused approach, ensuring that those most likely to encounter the virus are protected, while avoiding unnecessary vaccinations for the general traveling public.
