Meet Bb Trickz, The Viral Spanish Rapper Captivating Audiences Worldwide
Bb Trickz, a 24-year-old rapper from Barcelona, has taken the music scene by storm, recently catching the attention of pop icon Charli XCX with her remix of the hit song "Club Classics." With a laid-back yet confident flow, Trickz exudes the cool swagger of a seasoned artist, despite only having started her music career a few years ago. In a recent interview, she expressed her excitement about Charli's support, stating, “I think it’s very special that another woman that’s so talented, and someone I can look up to, believes in me and fucks with what I do.”
Born Belize Kazi, Trickz first gained traction through snippets of her music on TikTok, where her unique style and confident delivery quickly garnered attention. Her appearance—a dripped-out Disney princess aesthetic—contrasts sharply with her hard-hitting rap, leading to both admiration and criticism. “There’s also the side of the internet, which just hates me,” she acknowledges. “They love to hate women, but it’s all good.”
Despite facing accusations of being a "nepo baby" due to her father's background in music production, Trickz remains unfazed. “I knew I was going to create reactions to people, and I mean, it’s part of it. It’s never really been like, I’ve never taken it personally,” she explains. “Sometimes it gets tiring when it’s like, ‘Damn, I’ve actually just really worked hard to get to where I’m at,’ and it’s disregarded in a second with one comment.”
Trickz's love for hip-hop began at the age of 12, inspired by the genre's inventive lyrics and rhythmic wordplay. “I just thought it was interesting because when you rap, you’re actually saying double the words as a pop record,” she reflects. With a determination to pursue music, she began collaborating with friends who were engineers and producers, eventually discovering her talent for rapping through freestyle sessions.
Her early releases showcased a natural charisma and vocal dexterity, drawing comparisons to artists like Ice Spice and Veeze. In 2022, her song "Viva España" became a viral hit, despite her initial reservations about the track. “I thought it would be funny if I made it a party of Spanish rich kids,” she explains, highlighting the contrast between the song's sound and its visuals.
Trickz's latest EP, Sadtrickz, reflects her evolving sound, incorporating influences from the New York City drill scene. Collaborating with Bronx producer Cash Cobain, she blends American rap elements with her native Spanish, creating a fresh and unique style. “The beat selection came from what I listened to, which is American rap,” she notes, “but then the way I was rapping, the words I was choosing to use and stuff, it is very Spanish.”
Her rise to fame has been fueled by the global reach of TikTok, where she strategically built an audience before releasing her music. “I started off on snippet-ing on TikTok. That’s what got attention and eyes on me,” she shares. “I feel like the world we live in now is the best place to promote whatever you’re doing. And it’s free.”
Despite her newfound success, Trickz remains grounded, working closely with her original circle of friends. “Most of my videos, me and my friends will actually sit down and edit them ourselves. I’m super picky,” she says. Her collaborations with artists like Karrahbooo and Babyface Ray have further solidified her place in the industry, as she values the importance of authentic relationships in her creative process.
As she prepares for her next EP, Trickz is eager to explore more club-ready sounds, inspired by her experience with Charli XCX. “I think he’s really talented. I’m definitely always open to trying all sorts of genres,” she says, emphasizing her versatility as an artist.
Trickz aims to create a distinctive live experience for her fans, drawing inspiration from artists like Travis Scott. “I would like for my fans to know what they’re getting into,” she explains, envisioning high-energy performances that resonate with her audience.
In a short time, Bb Trickz has carved out a unique lane for herself in the music industry, blending her Spanish roots with contemporary sounds and engaging with fans in innovative ways. As she continues to rise, her journey serves as a testament to the power of authenticity and creativity in the ever-evolving landscape of music.
