Indonesian Celebrity Ivan Gunawan Returns for New TV Project Despite KPI Warnings
Indonesian celebrity and fashion designer Ivan Gunawan, commonly known as Igun, is making a return to television with a new project, despite receiving warnings from the Indonesian Broadcasting Commission (KPI). These warnings were issued due to his perceived feminine portrayal during a TV program he hosted on October 30, 2023, which led to his temporary removal from the show and his subsequent departure to France in January.
Despite the KPI’s sanctions, Ivan Gunawan has stated that he remains unfazed and is committed to staying true to himself without causing offense to others. He clarified that he holds no trauma from the experience and plans to continue his career in his authentic manner.
Ivan's new television project is a Ramadan program where he will be hosting alongside singer Ayu Ting Ting and comedian Wendy Cagur. He also revealed plans to spend the Eid holiday in Uganda, where he will officially inaugurate a mosque that he funded and built. The mosque has been operational since early 2023, and Igun is excited to enhance its interior with Indonesian calligraphy during his visit.
This comeback marks a significant moment for Ivan Gunawan, as he balances his public persona with personal commitments and the challenges posed by regulatory scrutiny.
