After months of anticipation, HTC has unveiled its new U11 EYEs smartphone.

The phone is designed with selfie -lovers in mind, with both the rear and front cameras optimised to take high quality images.

The rear camera is a 12MP camera, while the front of the phone features dual-cameras, allowing users to take studio-quality portraits.

One of the new key features is a 'Bokeh Mode', which allows users to adjust the depth-of-field while taking photos through the front dual-cameras.

On its website , HTC said: “Bokeh mode blurs the background in real-time based on the distance from your subject before you take the shot, or adjust it yourself after the photo is taken.”

Like Apple and Samsung , HTC has also introduced facial recognition technology in the U11 EYEs.

The Face Unlock feature allows users to unlock their device by simply looking at it.

According to Engadget , the U11 EYEs camera can distinguish between a human face and a face in a photo or video.

Face Unlock can also recognise users when they’re wearing sunglasses or a breathing mask.

The U11 EYEs also features HTC’s Edge Sense technology.

The HTC website said: “A gentle squeeze and you can access any app, take photos or video, launch a voice assistant, and much more with a single intuitive gesture.

"Do more, see more, and share more - all with one hand.’

The device features an enormous 3,930mAh battery - much bigger than other rival phones including Apple’s iPhone X (2,716mAh battery) and Samsung’s Galaxy S8+ (3,500mAh battery).

In terms of design, the U11 EYEs features a six inch display, and is both water and dust resistant.

The U11 is available in three luminous and reflective colours - Solar Red, Amazing Silver and Ceramic Black.

It will go on sale in Hong Kong from Wednesday, with prices starting at £360. It is unclear which countries it will be sold in.
