Urs Rohner keeps his millions despite fear of "social ostracism"
There was a rumor in banking circles that Urs Rohner intended to pay back part of his earnings as compensation. But there is nothing to the rumors: the former CS chairman wants to keep his millions.
Urs Rohner was a member of the Credit Suisse Board of Directors for many years . He survived all scandals unscathed - no demand for resignation could endanger him. The 63-year-old was on the board of directors for twelve years, which corresponds to the maximum term of office. First as Vice, then as President.
The near collapse of Credit Suisse and the associated emergency takeover by UBS put the former CS chairman back in the limelight. A rumor circulated in banking circles that Rohner intends to repay part of his earnings during his tenure on the CS board in order to regain social acceptance. Urs Rohner is active in the art and culture scene and is a member of Rotary 1, the most influential service club in Switzerland, as the CH-Media newspapers continue to write.
