University of Nicosia Ranks #1 in Cyprus and Greece in Four Subject Areas in 2025
The University of Nicosia (UNIC) has achieved remarkable recognition in the 2025 Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings by Subject, ranking #1 in Cyprus and Greece across four key areas: Business and Economics, Education Studies, Psychology, and Social Sciences (joint position). Additionally, UNIC has secured a strong position in Medical and Health Sciences, further solidifying its status as a leading institution in the region.
In the latest rankings, UNIC stands out among global institutions, placing:
- #40 in the European Union and among the 176-200 top universities worldwide for Business and Economics.
- #46 in the European Union and among the 201-250 top universities globally for Education Studies.
- #81 in the European Union and among the 301-400 top universities worldwide for Psychology.
- #103 in the European Union and among the 401-500 top universities globally for Social Sciences.
- #62 in the European Union and among the 501-600 top universities worldwide for Medical and Health Sciences.
Professor Pouyioutas, Rector of the University, expressed pride in these achievements, stating, "These are indeed amazing results! Our university has been acknowledged as a leader in five specific areas on a global scale. This significant recognition reflects our excellent performance in teaching, learning, research, innovation, and societal contribution, and is attributed to the exceptional efforts of our devoted and internationally recognized teaching and research staff." These subject rankings are part of a series of distinctions awarded to UNIC by Times Higher Education, which also recognized the university among the Top 501-600 universities worldwide in its flagship World University Rankings for 2025.
