PS refuses to return to biweekly debates, but accepts monthly
The Socialist Party (PS) refused the return of biweekly debates in a proposal sent to the parliamentary committee on Constitutional Affairs to which “Diário de Notícias” had access.
As an alternative to biweekly debates, the PS suggests a model in which the Government is obligatorily in the plenary to respond to the deputies every fortnight, alternating this presence between sectoral ministers and the prime minister. That is, if the proposal is approved, the prime minister will be in Parliament once a month. The proposal also provides that all ministers will have to respond in plenary sessions at least once a year.
It should be remembered that Chega, IL, PAN and also the PSD are the parties that defend the return of biweekly debates. The end of the biweekly debates was approved in the previous legislature with the favorable votes of PS and the PSD, then led by Rui Rio. Read More…
