Norway's Road Administration closes 14 wooden bridges after the bridge collapse at Tretten
The Norwegian Public Roads Administration is closing 14 wooden truss bridges while it waits for the cause of the bridge collapse on county road 254 near Tretten to become clear.
“A day after the Tretten bridge on county road 254 collapsed, the cause is still unclear. After assessing the situation today, we have come to the conclusion that we must close 14 corresponding truss bridges until we know more about the cause,” Ingrid Dahl Hovland said.
Transport Minister Jon-Ivar Nygård (AP) thinks it is reasonable for the Norwegian Road Administration to take precautions.
“The most important thing now is to take care of safety. It must be safe to travel on Norwegian roads,” Nygård said. Read More….
