Rapper Nelly Arrested for Suspected Drug Possession at Missouri Casino
Rapper Nelly was arrested early Wednesday on suspicion of illegal drug possession at a casino near St. Louis, Missouri. According to the Missouri Highway Patrol, officers found four ecstasy pills on the 49-year-old rapper and actor at the Hollywood Casino and Hotel in Maryland Heights.
Nelly, whose real name is Cornell Haynes II, was also found to have an outstanding warrant for a previous charge of not having proof of insurance for a vehicle. The arrest took place at 4:45 a.m., as stated in the patrol's online arrest report.
While Nelly's representatives did not immediately comment, it was mentioned that his attorney would issue a statement regarding the arrest later on Wednesday evening. Attempts to reach the Maryland Heights police for comment were not immediately successful.
Nelly, a native of the St. Louis area, is a three-time Grammy Award winner known for hits such as “Hot in Herre” and “Just A Dream.” He has had four number-one hits and has received nine Billboard Music Awards. Recently, he completed a series of performances as a special guest on Janet Jackson's tour.
