The Regional Health Directorate reported that the children and the two older infected are out of danger

Patients with coxsackie virus or foot, hand and mouth syndrome in the region increased to 74. This was reported by the director of Health Intelligence of the Regional Health Directorate (Diresa), Eddy Leyva Villalonga.

Cases

The Diresa official explained that, of the 74 confirmed cases of the aforementioned syndrome, 30 correspond to the province of Piura.

“There has been a slight increase compared to the previous week, of which we had 63 cases recorded,” Leyva pointed out.

The head of Health Intelligence added that the ages of the patients in the reported cases range between 3 years and 29 years of age.

“All are stable and have evolved favorably. The private school in Piura, located in the center of the city, where the primary case was registered, was quarantined for 20 days. They evolved favorably both the 3-year-old children and the teacher and assistant, and later in the other schools where they have also presented the patients improved and there are no hospitalized cases, "explained Leyva.

The official added that the cases are stabilized in the region and there are no deaths from the syndrome of feet, hands and mouth.

"This was achieved thanks to the immediate intervention when the first cases were registered," the official stressed.

Leyva Villalonga added that when a case of the coxsackie virus or foot, hand and mouth syndrome is detected, the affected classroom is immobilized and then samples are taken from the affected patients.

"When there is a case, a minimum quarantine is carried out, which is 14 days, classes are practically suspended," Leyva said. Read More...
