New Talking ‘Digital Assistant' Hound Puts Apple's Siri To Shame
A new talking assistant for phones looks set to blow Apple’s much-mocked Siri ‘personal assistant’ out of the water.
A demo of Hound shows off that the assistant is capable of understanding normal, human language - and dealing with very, very complex queries.
One of the queries it deals with is, ‘Show me four or five star hotels in Seattle for three nights, starting on Friday.
‘Between $150 and $250 a night. How about with free Wi-Fi and a gym?
The app is capable of listening to very long and complex queries, and dealing with them just like a human would.
Unlike rivals such as Siri, the app starts working on your query while you are still talking - meaning it spits out answers quickly, even if you ask it very complex questions.
The app also offers information above and beyond what’s accessible via a Google search, with hotel booking info built in - and even a mortgage calculator.
It’s made by the makers of Soundhound, a popular music recognition app, so it can also recognise tunes if you whistle to it.
