Google Translate Adds Waray, Bicolano, Pangasinan, and Two Other Philippine Languages
Google has expanded its Google Translate feature by adding five new Philippine languages: Bikol, Hiligaynon, Kapampangan, Pangasinan, and Waray. Prior to this update, Google Translate only supported three Philippine languages: Cebuano, Filipino, and Ilocano.
In a statement, Google announced that it has added 110 languages globally to its translation tool, bringing the total number of supported languages to 133. Among the newly added foreign languages are Cantonese, the Papua New Guinean language Tok Pisin, and the African languages Afar and NKo.
This expansion is expected to benefit 660 million people worldwide.
More people would be provided greater access to information and connections in their native tongues.
