Danish Legaltech Pandektes Raises €2.9M to Streamline Casework
Danish legaltech company Pandektes has successfully secured a €2.9 million Seed round of funding from investors including People Ventures, the German fund Interface Capital, and Nordic business angels. This investment will enable Pandektes to expand its innovative legal research platform, which aims to streamline casework for legal professionals across Europe.
Pandektes utilizes AI-driven software to assist legal professionals in navigating legislation, finding relevant case law, and generating legal queries. The platform organizes and makes legal databases searchable, significantly enhancing the efficiency of legal research. Currently, its services are utilized by legal councils, public institutions, and large law firms in Denmark and Germany.
With the new funding, Pandektes plans to expand its database of rulings across all EU jurisdictions, striving to create a comprehensive legal database that encompasses millions of legal sources from across Europe. CEO Casper Laursen highlighted the limitations faced by legal professionals, noting that in Denmark, lawyers currently access less than half a percent of all court rulings each year. He stated, "Our AI tool changes that by making more of these rulings available, searchable, and easy to find. This will enhance the rule of law, promote greater transparency in legal practice, and significantly boost efficiency in the industry. What used to take days of legal research, we can now accomplish in seconds. That’s a true revolution."
Founded in 2023 by Laursen and Søren Brokær, Pandektes aims to break down jurisdictional barriers in Europe. Laursen explained that their competitive advantage lies in their ability to cover an international market, allowing rulings from countries like France or Germany to be utilized in Polish court cases. Without Pandektes, accessing foreign databases in unfamiliar languages would be a significant challenge.
Magnus Sagsted, principal and CFO at People Ventures, praised Pandektes for its rapid growth and the comprehensive nature of its product. He noted, "This is a perfect example of how artificial intelligence is going to strengthen the legal industry. Pandektes has had an impressive growth rate, they’ve built a comprehensive product in a very short time and they are working on a market with little competition that screams for innovation. Most important of all, they’ve built a product that their customers are happy about in a market that has been monopoly-driven for years."
Pandektes is poised to revolutionize the legal research landscape in Europe with its AI-powered platform, making legal resources more accessible and efficient for professionals across the continent. With the recent funding, the company is set to expand its offerings and build the largest legal database in Europe, ultimately enhancing the rule of law and transparency in legal practices.
