Daniel Craig kisses his real Bond girl Rachel Weisz as he meets Kate Middleton and Prince William

He joined his Bond girls on the red carpet for the royal premiere of Spectre, but Daniel Craig’s real leading lady was waiting in the wings.

Rachel Weisz couldn’t keep her hands off her husband Daniel, who plays James Bond in the latest 007 instalment and he shared a passionate kiss with her as they waited to meet royal guests Prince Harry, Prince William and Kate Middleton along with his fellow cast members.

After a gruelling red carpet, where some fans had queued since Saturday to catch a glimpse of the leading star, Daniel grabbed his wife for a full on smooch before his latest outing as Bond debuted at the Royal Albert Hall.

He was joined on the red carpet by his smoking hot co-stars Léa Seydoux and Monica Bellucci at the star-studded screening for the 24th spy movie where he channelled his screen alter ego in a black Tom Ford tuxedo.

William, his wife Kate - dressed in a blue Jenny Packham gown - and Prince Harry spoke to director Sam Mendes and producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson for a few minutes after they arrived.

Bond star Daniel Craig said he can not wait for fans to see the movie as he took to the red carpet at the Royal Albert Hall.

Craig, who was the first star to arrive, told red carpet host Rick Edwards: "It's just fantastic to see everybody out tonight. I'm not overwhelmed, I'm very excited and I can't wait for people to see the movie."

He added that he "hated" watching himself on screen, but said "I love playing James Bond."

The film's director Sam Mendes told Edwards: "I'm very proud and quite nervous, but I'm used to the theatre where things can go wrong. With a movie, everyone is going to give the same performance... so that aspect isn't too nerve-wracking.

"I want people to like it, I want people to like it as much as I do. I'm really proud of it, we sweated blood over it for two years. I'm really thrilled and a bit relieved."

The rest of the film's cast including Naomie Harris, Christoph Waltz, Ben Whishaw, Ralph Fiennes and the franchise newcomers Andrew Scott, Dave Bautista and Bond girls Lea Seydoux and Monica Bellucci were also on the red carpet.

When asked about being a Bond girl, French actress Seydoux quipped to Edwards: "I can't really believe it, but I don't know if I'm a Bond girl, I'm just a blonde girl."

David Walliams and Good Morning Britain's Susanna Reid joined Edwards in interviewing the stars on the red carpet.

The presenting duo slipped into one of the movie's cars to arrive in style at the premiere, arriving in the silver 1951 Rolls Royce from the movie.

"What a way to arrive," said Walliams, adding that Spectre is "bigger and better" than its predecessor, Skyfall.

The 24th James Bond film, directed by Skyfall's Mendes, was graced with royal presence after it was selected for the Cinema and Television Benevolent Fund's Royal Film Performance 2015.

Harris, who reprises her role as Eve Moneypenny, admitted the cast are unlikely to mingle with the royals at the film's afterparty.

She said: "I don't think so sadly. We're all off to Zurich the next day to do another premiere, so I think we'll all be tucked up into bed straight away."

For the first time, the new Bond film will open in cinemas throughout the UK on the same day as the premiere.
