CHANEL HAS LAUNCHED AN ONLINE PLATFORM CELEBRATING WOMEN IN CREATIVE INDUSTRIES
i-D and CHANEL have combined to launch an online platform celebrating women in creative industries.
Aspiring to carve a space for the exploration and empowerment of women’s achievements in art and culture, The Fifth Sense will feature projects from a number of influential women, each inspired by a CHANEL fragrance.
The website will feature films and in-depth documentaries detailing the behind the scenes process of the six projects of women on the cutting edge of their field.
Their latest project comes from one of fashion photography’s most exciting names, Harley Weir, a London born artist who has frequently shot for Vogue, Pop, Self Service and i-D.
Her project is a series of portraits exploring women at the forefront of change. Weir travelled the globe to shoot women from France, Tokyo, Berlin, LA and South Africa.
To celebrate the platform’s launch, award-winning set designer Es Devlin OBE was tasked with a five-day solo installation in South London.
Devlin’s Mirror Maze installation at Copeland Park in Peckham was inspired by the connection between memory and scent, using an exclusive fragrance created by CHANEL. It now lives as an interactive video on The Fifth Sense to allow users to experience it for themselves.
Devlin, who in the past has worked with Kanye West and Adele, was the first of six projects to feature on The Fifth Sense platform.
