WhatsApp’s Edit Messages Is Coming Closer to Its Launch
WhatsApp has been laboring on implementing message editing functionality for a considerable time now and has been observed testing it on numerous occasions. The capability appears to be progressively nearing its unveiling and may soon be available to all. Let us take a look at what’s in store!
A recent report from WABetaInfo highlights a new development in the Edit Messages feature, as identified in the WhatsApp for Android beta 2.23.10.10 update. This is the inception of a new pop-up message, which will surface when a WhatsApp message is successfully edited.
A screenshot exhibits this pop-up in action and insinuates that it will appear to inform the user of the action and how it will now be perceived by everyone in the conversation. The report suggests that this could be the ultimate step prior to releasing the message editing functionality to all users. Have a glimpse of it below.
For those who are not in the know, the capability to modify messages will come in useful when there are spelling or grammatical errors, or when something inappropriate has been sent accidentally. So, instead of removing a message for everyone, which is an existing functionality, users can easily amend the message and revise it. Other particulars are yet to be disclosed.
The feature is also undergoing testing for WhatsApp's web-based version, and the outcome will be integrated into the messaging application's versions. If you are concerned that it may not function with older WhatsApp versions, you should be aware that this is unlikely to be an impediment since the Edit Messages capability will be unveiled "when all incompatible versions with this feature have expired."
We are still awaiting an official declaration regarding the implementation of this feature, and we will notify you as soon as this happens.
