Video games less popular with Swiss than abroad
According to a study by the consulting firm Deloitte, the global gaming industry has grown significantly since the outbreak of the corona pandemic. Compared to other European countries, however, gambling is rarer in Switzerland.

As the study published on Wednesday shows, the gaming industry increased its annual sales worldwide to an estimated CHF 150 billion during the pandemic. According to Deloitte, this would even exceed the income from the film and music industry. An important driver is the increasing popularity of e-sports.
In Switzerland, around 45 percent of those surveyed said they had played a video game at least once in the last six months. The average weekly playing time was eight hours, which according to the study is mainly due to a group of “heavy users”.
In a European comparison, however, Switzerland is lagging behind: around 55 percent of the population in Europe has played video games in the past six months. The average playing time per week was around 15 hours, almost twice as long as in Switzerland. Read More…
