Venezuelan catcher Salvador Pérez, the star of the Royals' 50th win
Venezuelan Salvador Pérez played a pivotal role in the Kansas City Royals' 6-4 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals on Wednesday, marking the Royals' 50th win of the season.
The 34-year-old catcher hit a crucial home run in the sixth inning and followed it up with a single in the eighth, sealing his status as the star of the game.
Pérez, who is currently on a four-game hitting streak, has shown consistent performance throughout the 2024 season, with 15 home runs and 57 RBIs to date. He is closing in on a career milestone, needing just 31 more RBIs to reach the 900 RBI mark. Since 2013, Pérez has achieved at least 50 RBIs in every season except for the pandemic-shortened 2020 season.
This victory has bolstered the Royals' standing, placing them third in the American League Central division.
