The Venezuelan Film Festival celebrates its XVIII Edition from July 17 to 21
Cine Átomo Marathon and Audiovisual University start their calls and, due to their success, Pensamiento Visual, beyond the competition, will continue to serve the online audience
The Foundation for the Development of Arts and Culture (Fundearc) and the National Autonomous Center for Cinematography (CNAC), with the support of the Mérida State Government and the private sector, will carry out the most anticipated cinematographic meeting of the year, the XVIII Venezuelan Film Festival (FCV) 2022, from July 17 to 21 with the most select of national cinematography. After two years of pandemic, in Mérida, the cradle of national cinema, filmmakers, producers, actors, students and the general public are summoned to celebrate eighteen uninterrupted editions of the most important Film Festival in the country.
With a wide cinematographic sample, this year the Venezuelan Film Festival will award fiction and documentary feature films, fiction short films and documentaries, and the most anticipated competitions: Átomo Cinema Marathon and Audiovisual University. For its part, the cycle of conferences and talks that frames the Visual Thinking discipline, beyond this year's competition, announces its completion in the coming days of April. With the aim of promoting and sponsoring the artistic and cultural work in its different expressions in our country, FUNDEARC, directed by its President Karina Gómez, has consolidated the Venezuelan Film Festival among the most important referents of culture and cinematography in the country, raising this year its eighteenth edition with blended modality.
The celebration begins The pandemic was not an impediment to making the FCV possible and in the creative process of virtuality, the following was created: Virtual Thought, beyond the competition, a new educational project, which reached national and international audience records, on all digital platforms of the Festival. For the second consecutive year, the invitation is extended to the public that is interested in Venezuelan and Latin American cinema, in visual and contemporary memory. Visual Thought, beyond the competition this time will occupy the attention of online audiences with the title "The office of the script in the cinema", on April 25, 26, 27 and 28.
For its part, the Átomo Cinema Marathon is in charge of opening the audiovisual competition with the call for participation of one-minute short films in its three categories: fiction, documentary and animation. Throughout the history of the Festival, this discipline has revealed new talents and new audiovisual languages ​​of a generation that has grown up with a camera in hand and has the ability to create a good story in a minute.
