The UK's favourite pie revealed and it's so controversial people are 'offended'
The favourite couldn't have been further from reality
Brits were left reeling after an official ranking of the country’s favourite pie revealed a controversial winner. TasteAtlas, a food and restaurant encyclopaedia, shared the top ten most popular pies in Britain, unveiling the sweet pastry banoffee pie at the top.
Their top three pies included steak pie in second and Shepherd’s pie in third. Each of the pies came with a rating out of five stars, with banoffee pie and steak pie both receiving 4.3 out of five stars.
At the bottom of the list was the famous Melton Mowbray pork pie, which many believed to be higher up the rankings. TasteAtlas’ post received over 3,700 likes, 5,100 comments and 1,500 shares.

The result didn’t go down well with Brits, as they argued they wouldn’t know anyone who’d put Banoffee pie as their favourite out of all the varieties out there. One commented: “I don't know anyone who would put Banoffee Pie on a top ten list of British pies. Nothing about this list feels right for that matter.
“It's like a cultural archaeologist from a thousand years in the future who has never been to the UK or tasted UK food has pieced together information from various sources and done the best they can under the circumstances.”
A second wrote: “Not sure I’ve ever been more offended than seeing a banoffee pie at the top of a best pies list. Shepherd at 3 is pretty wrong too.” Read More…
