The Government plans to have a proposed popular consultation list in three weeks
Presidential adviser Diego Ordóñez preferred not to anticipate whether the consultation would coincide with the 2023 elections.
The Government finalizes details of the content of a popular consultation that could be sent to the Constitutional Court (CC) in the next three weeks for its qualification . In addition to the investment law, the Executive has a labor reform proposal on its agenda , about which last Tuesday (April 5, 2022) the President said that it did not make sense to send it to the Legislative if the Government is going to be subject to pressure and blackmail for its approval.
Diego Ordóñez , presidential adviser, highlighted this April 7 in an interview on Teleamazonas that one of the questions will be about security. He pointed out that there are some provisions within the Constitution and laws that end up favoring impunity for organized crime.
He also anticipated that there will be a question regarding the Council for Citizen Participation and Social Control (CPCCS), an organization that has generated "submissive authorities," he stressed.
Ordóñez recalled that the Constitutional Court (CC) has indicated that the eventual elimination of the Participation Council has to be done through a partial reform of the Constitution.
In that sense, the counselor clarified that work will be done in relation to the powers that the Constitution attributes to this body.
At the same time, he highlighted the initiative of the group ' Voices for Democracy', which this Wednesday (April 6) announced that it is organizing to send a popular consultation proposal to the Constitutional Court . Read More...
