Syakalima wants quality higher education

The Ministry of Education has directed the newly inaugurated board and management at the Higher Education Authority -HEA- to expedite the accreditation of learning institutions.
Education Minister, Douglas Syakalima says the board should urgently look into the decentralization of the activities of the authority to ensure quality at all higher education institutions.
Mr. Syakalima said this during the inauguration of the Higher Education Authority Board which will be led by Professor Levy Siaminwe.
Others on the Board are, Mr. Cleophas Takaiza, Ms Chipego Zulu, Ms Faith Wamundila, George Hamusunga, Mazila Mwinga, Teza Nakazwe-Musakanya , Vivian Ndhlovu and William Nyundu.
Professor Stephen Samukanga , Director General of the Higher Education Authority is Ex- officio member.
And, Education Permanent Secretary Noriana Muneku said the ministry has received complaints on the delay by the Higher Education Authority to accredit learning institutions.
Ms. Muneku said it is important that the board helps facilitate speedy accreditation of institutions as their credibility is dependent on the certification of the institutions. Read More…
