Street Fighter 6 Announces Open Beta
Capcom has announced that an open beta for Street Fighter 6 will be available soon, allowing players to try out the game prior to its official release. The announcement comes after the successful second closed beta test, which included various features that were well-received by players in comparison to previous iterations.
As the next installment in Capcom's long-standing fighting game series, Street Fighter 6 has high expectations to surpass its criticized predecessor, Street Fighter 5. Capcom has recently released a free single-player demo of Street Fighter 6 for PS4 and PS5 players to get a feel for the game's graphics, art, and controls. With multiple control layouts, improved graphics and art, and an abundance of customization options, Street Fighter 6 has a lot riding on its success.
The open beta for Street Fighter 6 will run from Friday, May 19, at 07:00 UTC to Monday, May 22, at 07:00 UTC. Interested players can download the beta beforehand, starting on Tuesday, May 16, at 7:00 UTC. Unlike the previous two closed beta tests, the open beta will include cross-play, allowing PS5, Xbox, and Steam players to compete against each other. However, PS4 players will have to wait until the official release as they won't be able to participate in the open beta.
The open beta will feature the character creator, battle hub, and the same eight fighters from the second closed beta, including Ryu and newcomer Luke, who is prominently featured on the game's cover. The open beta will require 25 GB of storage space, which is significantly less than the 42 GB required for the previous closed beta test.
Capcom warned that the open beta may have periods of maintenance, and advised players to follow their social media accounts for any updates. Nonetheless, the hype for the game is real, with the imminent launch, the open beta, and the single-player demo for Street Fighter 6 garnering much attention.
