Starfish School in Chiang Mai Recognized as One of the World's Best for Innovation
Starfish School in Chiang Mai province has been named one of the top three schools in the world for innovation by T4 Education and its partners. The school's innovative approach to education has earned it a spot among the finalists for the World's Best School Prizes 2024, which aims to celebrate schools that are making a significant impact in their communities and contributing to society's progress.
Starfish School was established in 2006 with a focus on creating education equality among students in the province, particularly ethnic children. The school's "3R Innovation Curriculum" and Makerspace Programme are designed to equip students with crucial skills in a culturally inclusive environment. This innovative approach has earned the school government accolades and has transformed local educational practices.
The World's Best School Prizes 2024 are being organized in five categories: community collaboration, environmental action, innovation, overcoming adversity, and supporting healthy lives. The winners will be announced virtually on October 24 and will share a prize of US$50,000. The top three schools in each category will be invited to attend the World Schools Summit in Dubai, United Arab Emirates on November 23-24.
T4 Education aims to promote education and support schools in achieving the United Nations' sustainable development goal of ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education and promoting lifelong learning opportunities for all by 2030. The agency's founder, Vikas Pota, emphasized the need for multiple solutions to tackle the global education crisis and encouraged schools to adapt and innovate from the grassroots level.
