School supplies are increasingly expensive
Starting primary school is becoming increasingly costly, as evidenced by the latest price monitoring by the Austrian Chamber of Labour (AK) in mid-July. The survey, which examined the prices of 57 essential school items across five online retailers and three physical stores, revealed that the cost of school supplies has risen by an average of 1.4 percent compared to the previous year.
The price check also included various school bag sets, which typically consist of items like pencil cases, sports bags, and other essentials. The cost of these sets varied significantly depending on the retailer, with the cheapest options ranging from around 50 to 128 euros, and the most expensive sets priced between 87 and 290 euros.

This increase in the cost of school supplies adds to the financial burden for families as they prepare their children for the new school year.
