Portuguese Schools Abroad Are “Priority”
The Portuguese Minister of Foreign Affairs has emphasized the significance of the Portuguese language, both within and outside the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP), and affirmed that Portuguese schools abroad remain a priority.
Minister Paulo Rangel noted that since the current administration took office, several issues related to Portuguese schools abroad have either been resolved or are in the process of being addressed.
“There were issues with the Escola Portuguesa de Luanda, which are all resolved or in the process of being resolved. There are issues in Brazil, and in São Tomé and Príncipe. Many times they are not even problems, they are points to resolve,” he stated.
He further assured, “The issue of the Portuguese language is fundamental, whether in the CPLP or outside the CPLP. We are in direct and permanent contact with the Ministry of Education, which is giving this high priority.”
This commitment underlines the government's dedication to promoting and supporting the Portuguese language and education abroad, ensuring that Portuguese-speaking communities receive the necessary resources and attention.
