Between 2013 and 2021 Carrión was an Assemblyman for Pichincha in the National Assembly of Ecuador and is one of the founders of the defunct Alianza País Movement.
AMIGO is the party of former presidential candidate Pedro Freile.

Patricio Alarcón , businessman; Andrés Castillo , lawyer; Luz Elena Coloma , councilwoman; Jéssica Jaramillo , lawyer; Wilson Merino , social activist; Medardo Oleas , lawyer; and, Javier Ortiz , also a lawyer, met in a hotel in Quito, on Friday, February 17, 2022. Their names are active on social networks and, although they have not formalized it, they sound like possible pre-candidates for Mayor of Quito for the sectional elections in February 2023.
