While unique can be an overused term when describing homes on the market, this Mexican-themed grand villa truly lives up to it.
It is so special that it has also played host to special events in people’s lives including three weddings, numerous birthdays, countless parties and house design and fashion photo shoots.
The home was originally built in 1951 by Mr and Mrs Harbert who constructed it by hand with materials sourced from sandstone quarried in the Adelaide Hills including local Mitcham quarries.
Current owners Hilery and Brian Keane have spent 16 years on a renovation and construction project to make 10 Highland Ave in Torrens Park their one-of-a-kind Mexican casa (home).
The seven-bedroom home spread over three levels has been designed in such a way that each level is self-contained with separate entrances.
Beautifully landscaped gravel gardens featuring towering mature cacti and ponytail palms lead the way to the villa that has been done up in earthy oxide hues inside-out.
Solid monolithic concrete walls and seats, a distinct feature of Mexican design, are present throughout the home and garden and have been shaped by hand to create a soft and flowing form. Read More...
