Croatia’s Labour Demand drops 3.5% y/y in August
In August 2024, labour demand in Croatia dropped by 3.5% compared to the same period last year, marking the largest decline since April and the sixth decrease of the year, according to a report by the Institute of Economics Zagreb (EIZ).
This follows a slight increase in labour demand by 1.6% in July and 0.4% in June. The seasonally adjusted Online Vacancy Index (OVI), which measures labour demand, fell by 2.1% cumulatively over July and August.
The EIZ noted that this decline is typical for the summer months, when job advertisements generally decrease, leading to a drop in labour demand during the third quarter compared to the second quarter.
The most in-demand occupations in August 2024 remained consistent with the previous year, with the top five being salespersons, waiters, warehouse workers, cooks, and drivers.
