Core exhibition about Sigurd Lewerentz at Skisserna museum
The architect Petra Gipp has designed the Sketch Museum's exhibition about Sigurd Lewerentz. Her keen eye and sculptural interpretation highlight the essentials of his central buildings in Skåne, writes Tomas Lauri.
I really enjoyed the big exhibition about Sigurd Lewerentz at Arkdes. But afterwards I felt missing something. At the Sketch Museum's exhibition about Lewerentz, I understand what it was.
Arkde's exhibition tried to cover everything. A magnificent display. At the same time a bit of an empty gesture. All sides of Lewerentz would be promptly displayed without explaining whether all were equally significant to him.
The exhibition at the Sketch Museum is the opposite: full of substance. It is concentrated in three central works in Skåne: Malmö eastern cemetery with the chapel and flower kiosk, Malmö Opera (formerly Stadsteatern) and St. Petri Church in Klippan church. Despite the fact that large parts of the material were included in the exhibition at Arkdes, another Lewerentz steps forward - far from extroverted, volatile and multifaceted.

At the Sketch Museum, it revolves around the artist Lewerentz. The exhibition emphasizes the stubbornness, how he deviated from his modernist contemporaries.
