Andrew O'Keefe set to face drug charge following dramatic arrest
Former television presenter Andrew O’Keefe is set to face an additional charge relating to the posession of a prohibited drug as he remains in police custody following an altercation in Sydney last week.
Police told Sydney’s Central Local Court on Friday there would be one additonal charge relating to the January 25 incident, while a matter relating to an AVO breach would be addressed separately.
Court documents seen by news.com.au reveal police will allege he was in posesssion of 1.5 grams of cannabis on January 27 when he was arrested.
O’Keefe already faces two counts of intentionally choking a person without consent, three counts of common assault, and assault occasioning actual bodily harm following an incident at a Kent Street apartment in Sydney.
Police have alleged O’Keefe grabbed a 38-year-old woman by the throat, pushing her to the ground and punching her.
O’Keefe was refused bail after appearing in court last month and remains in police custody at the Silverwater Correctional Complex.
Magistrate Robert Williams adjourned the matter on Friday while awaiting information pertaining to the new charge.
The case is set to return to court on February 11 for both matters to be heard, with O’Keefe to appear via video link. Read More…
