4iG to switch DIGI customers to Vodafone’s network in June

4iG group has announced that DIGIMobil customers will be switched over to Vodafone Hungary’s network from 1st June.
Last week (13th April), DIGIMobil stopped signing up new customers as part of the preparations for its integration with Vodafone Hungary. As reported by TeleGeography, 4iG now owns both mobile operators, having closed its acquisition of a majority stake in Vodafone this February. State investment vehicle Corvinus took the 49% minority stake, with the government decreeing the deal exempt from antimonopoly regulation.
4iG is now looking to streamline its asset portfolio by spinning off DIGI’s mobile infrastructure – including its “passive and active mobile communication devices, radio frequency usage rights and more than 2,500 transmission towers” - into a separate unit ahead of a planned divestment.
A statement from DIGI confirmed that its mobile customers will be able to access their current voice and data packages at a “guaranteed price” and without changing SIM cards until 31st December 2023, with the operator’s managing director Tamas Tabori saying: “Our goal is to continue to provide our subscribers with an even higher quality service at a favourable price.”
