38 Schools To Benefit From SEQIP Programme

Thirty eight schools in Loitoktok Sub County are set to benefit from Kenya Secondary Education Quality Improvement Project (SEQIP). These schools include 12 secondary and 26 primary public schools.
The project will construct 10 laboratories and 16 classrooms in the 12 secondary schools while 26 toilets will be constructed in the 26 primary schools.
While speaking to KNA, Loitoktok Sub County Director of Education Peter Bitah said SEQIP is a six-year intervention aimed at enhancing retention in upper primary and transition from primary to secondary education in targeted areas.
Bitah noted that this would be achieved through improving school infrastructure and provision of scholarship, mentorship, advocacy, gender sensitisation and social support.
Bitah further pointed out that the project, which is nationally funded by the World Bank, seeks to enable the country to address the challenges of education wastage in grades 7 and 8 and low enrolment of girls in the vulnerable and maginalised areas.
The Educationist observed that the beneficiaries would benefit with capacity building of teaching staff aimed at improving quality of education in the Sub County.
Bitah expressed appreciation that Loitoktok Sub County is one of the sub county benefiting with the project among other 110 sub counties across 30 targeted counties. Read More…
