2022 Fashion Trends Worth Investing In
This year, the fashion world has seriously adopted ’90s fashion and it’s not going anywhere anytime soon. Think short skirts, low waistlines and mesh making a comeback. Don’t worry though – some of last seasons favourites are back for another run too, such as blazers and corset tops. Since I’ve been working to revamp my wardrobe for the new season (and to recover from the boring last year), I thought I’d break down my favourite 2022 fashion trends.
You’ll notice that a lot of these work together. I think that’s what I like about fashion these days – there is a strong focus on restyling and repurposing, rather than buying. I feel like it’s fair to say that TikTok is to blame for this. Whatever the reason, I think the fashion world is slowly taking a step in the right direction and I’m here for it.
Platform Heels
Platform heels are definitely a trend for the adventurous, but I think they’re an easy shoe to style no matter the season. You can easily pair them with a mini skirt and corset or a dress for the springtime. If you’re like me and entering autumn, dress up a casual outfit with trousers and a bright coloured platform for autumn. All-in-all, they’re a fun way to make a statement this year.

Corset Tops
Corset tops are back for another season, but this time they’re more refined. Think straight lines, slimline fits and monochromatic colours. I have my eye on a few of the brown leather styles, but I also love this Miaou corset top with the logo print I’ve listed below. Chuck a blazer on, add some gold necklaces, and you’re good to go.

’90s Cargo Pants
Another nod to the ’90s, cargo pants are back baby and I can’t stop seeing on my TikTok feed. This is a trend that is easy to work into the wardrobe you already have. From a simple tee to a corset top, there are endless ways to make these work. If you’re still unsure, I’d recommend grabbing a neutral pair that match your sneakers.

Colourful Shirts
Oversized shirts have easily become my favourite styling piece. Street style fashion has become basic lately, so throwing on a bright coloured shirt is a great way to add some life to an outfit. I have an orange linen shirt that was passed around my friends all summer. The key here is to buy a high-quality fabrication, such as linen, so that it lasts because you’ll no doubt be taking this to the beach and beyond.

Low-Rise Pants
Another beauty coming back from the ’90s is low rise pants. I’m not going to lie, this one I love, but I can’t imagine a life where my pants don’t sit higher than my hips – but how good do they look on? If you’re anything like me, I say go for a softer fabric or a looser fit. There is nothing worse than feeling self-conscious after all.
